About OptionRaft

OptionRaft is a trading publication built by options traders, for options traders. We write about options strategies, risk management, market mechanics, and the platforms and tools traders use to execute their edge. We started this site because the trading education space is full of people selling dreams and avoiding specifics, and we wanted to do the opposite.

Everything published on OptionRaft comes from people with real skin in the game. We trade our own accounts. We have been on the wrong side of earnings trades and the right side of volatility plays. When we write about risk management, we are not summarizing a textbook. We are sharing what experience in live markets actually teaches you.

What We Cover

Options Strategies. Covered calls, cash-secured puts, vertical spreads, iron condors, straddles, strangles, calendar spreads, and the more advanced structures you use when you have a specific market thesis. We explain the mechanics, the Greeks exposure, the ideal market conditions, and the management rules — not just the entry.

Risk Management. Position sizing, portfolio-level risk, stop rules, the psychology of managing a losing trade, and how to think about maximum loss before you put the trade on. This is the part most trading education skips. We do not skip it.

Market Analysis. Technical setups, volatility analysis (IV rank, IV percentile, term structure), earnings plays, and the framework for reading the tape before you trade. We are not newsletter-style trade alerts. We are teaching the analytical process.

Trading Psychology. The mental side of trading is undersold as a performance factor. We cover the patterns that cost traders money: revenge trading, moving stops, over-sizing after a winner, under-sizing after a loss. Understanding the patterns does not make you immune to them, but it gives you a fighting chance.

Brokerage and Platform Reviews. TastyTrade, Webull, TD Ameritrade/thinkorswim, Interactive Brokers, Tastylive — we evaluate trading platforms the way a trader should: commissions, execution quality, options chain usability, margin requirements, and what the experience is like when something goes wrong.

Our Editorial Standards

We do not give buy or sell recommendations. Nothing on OptionRaft is investment advice. Trading involves risk of loss, and options trading involves the risk of losing your entire investment. We assume you understand this and treat you accordingly.

We also do not publish strategy content without discussing the risk. Every strategy write-up on this site includes a discussion of the downside, the conditions under which the strategy fails, and the management approach when a trade goes against you. Anyone who tells you options are easy is selling something.

How We Review Brokerages

When we review a trading platform, we open a real funded account. We execute real trades. We test the options chain, the order entry flow, the mobile app, and the customer support. We do not publish brokerage reviews based on screenshots and press releases.

Some brokerage links on OptionRaft are affiliate links. We may earn a commission when you open an account using our link. This does not change our evaluation. We have given negative reviews to platforms with affiliate programs and positive reviews to platforms we earn nothing from. Our credibility with readers is worth more than a referral commission.
